MY NEW SKINCARE ROUTINE

A few months ago I wrote a post called How I Keep My Skin Photo Ready that outlined my skincare routine at the time. Since posting I’ve made a few changes and I decided to update you all on what products I currently use. One thing that hasn’t changed is that I still use as few products as possible. I just like it that way best.

The first change I made was that I stopped using my old face wash and started using African black soap (with oats, aloe, and vitamin E) by Nubian Heritage. I love this soap because its gentle, it smells nice, I can pronounce just about all of the ingredients and it leaves my skin feeling very clean. I first heard about it from YouTuber, Chime Edwards, and I’ve loved it since I first used it. I need it in my life like…forever. I use it to wash my face every night.

After washing my face, I moisturize with pure unrefined coconut oil. That’s it.

As I shared in my last skincare post, I still exfoliate once a week. After washing with my African black soap I exfoliate with a charcoal and black sugar polishing mask by Freeman Feeling Beautiful. I like this product because after exfoliating I can leave the product on for 5-7 minutes as a mask before washing off. It’s like a 2-in-1! After rinsing, I slap on some coconut oil and keep moving.

That’s my routine. Occasionally (meaning whenever my period comes or I get lazy about cleaning my makeup brushes) I get a large pimple or two that I usually treat with orange peels. It dries them up within a day or two. Other than that my skin usually goes with any major problems. I know skin changes all the time so I’m hoping it stays this way for a while.
