MY 30TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

A week ago today, I turned 30 years old. Man! Thirty years old! My twenties were awesome and taught me so much about life. I’m actually a teensy bit sad to see them go. As far as my thirties go, I don’t have any huge goals or expectations. At this point, I just want to take it day by day and see where that gets me. And if you know me, you know that’s far from my usual constant need for control. I don’t want to be as hard on myself in this next decade as I was in the last. So cheers to my thirties!

In celebration of this monumental birthday I planned a fun donuts and mimosas themed brunch with my girlfriends and an intimate private birthday dinner party with my closest friends. I didn’t snag any photos of my brunch because I was busy being in the moment. I do however have photos from my dinner (which was really the main event of my celebrations) thanks to my dear friend and one of the best photographers I know, Idris.

My dinner was amazing. It was full of good food, laughter and joy in celebration of my life. Having those select people around me really made my day special. My guests included my best friend of nearly 15 years, Rashanee’, who flew in from Texas and surprised me. The kindest friend I have and my biggest supporter, Kiara. My friend turned sister, Jessica. My sexy hunk of dark chocolate/husband, Deji, And lastly, his best friend/my favorite friend of his (shhh, don’t tell the others), Idris. Due to a breakdown in time management, my baby boy was present as well. I thought having a baby around would ruin the night but surprisingly it didn’t. His presence made me feel even more blessed and loved.

I’m very thankful to have made it to see 30. Not everyone does so I truly count it a blessing that I’m still here in my right mind, in good health, and not lacking anything. God has been very good to me and I pray for his continued blessings in my life. I am officially a member of the thirty club! Thank you again to every person who helped me celebrate my life and who wished me a happy birthday in person or through my social. I appreciate all of the love!
